Can I get my teething necklace wet?

Yes, it’s absolutely fine to get your silicone teething jewellery wet, there are no parts that will be damaged by water. However, with the wooden teething ring necklace we recommend taking it off before having a shower or bathing. If any teething jewellery gets wet, simply let it air dry before next use.

How do teething necklaces work?

We often get asked if teething necklaces really work? How exactly does a teething necklace help with teething? Or even what’s the point of a teething necklace?? There are several benefits of teething jewellery: Made from strong yet squidgy silicone rubber, our beads and bangles offer relief from the pain of teething. When babies’ sore gums bite down on teething jewellery it helps to numb the pain naturally. Using something safe such as silicone is important as you can be reassured that they won’t hurt themselves.

What are the benefits of silicone rubber?

Silicone rubber is naturally hygienic and resistant to bacteria. It is also non-toxic and BPA free meaning it’s safe to go in babies’ mouths.

How do you make your teething necklaces?

Every necklace is handmade by mamas in East London who double check each item before posting. We’ve been making them for over five years and stay up to date with the latest regulations. All our components come from manufacturers who also comply with the highest safety standards. - Every product is given a sterile wipe before it's packaged, but we recommend sterilising before every use. - Each necklace features a snap clasp that pops open if yanked or caught on something. - Cords are made from colour-fast nylon and are double knotted at each end. - All our silicone meets the European safety standard EN71-3. We continually review our suppliers and change accordingly should products not meet our standards. - Our silicone products are non-toxic, hypoallergenic, hygienic and resistant to bacteria.

What is the best teething necklace for babies?

We believe that silicone rubber is the best solution for teething babies due to its durability and hygienic properties. We also offer one wooden teething ring necklace which is made from Canadian maple hardwood which is untreated and organic.

Are amber teething necklaces any good?

Here at Little Gnashers we do not advocate amber teething necklaces. We have not seen any empirical evidence or science to back up their pain relief claims. We believe that putting a beaded necklace on an infant could be a potential choking hazard.

Is there any science behind silicone teething necklaces?

There is no scientific evidence that specifically backs up silicone teething necklaces. However, no claims are being made as to the medicinal properties of the material – merely the numbing effect of biting down on a hard object plus the distraction it provides. Silicone is a safe and sterile material for babes to chew on with supervision from their grown up.

How long do teething necklaces last?

Silicone rubber is very hard-wearing, and we have not found any cases where the product has worn down. In addition, the robust shapes and designs we use make it impossible to bite through. It really is tough stuff and we have not had a single instance of this in five years of trading. That said, if you experience any malfunctions, we urge you to contact us immediately.

What do teething bracelets and bangles do for babies?

Much like teething necklaces, silicone teething bangles provide a safe chewable teething solution for babies that can be worn by grownups. There is no tangible benefit of teething bangles over teething necklaces, it’s just personal preference and a style choice.

Where can I buy a teething necklace?

You’ve come to the right place! We’ve got over 100 teething products to choose from and if you have something specific in mind please contact us so we can make a bespoke teething necklace just for you.
